Bannon agrees to Mueller interview

Former chief White House strategist Steve Bannon is scheduled to appear before the House Intelligence Committee this week

That's according to his White House physician, Navy doctor Ronny Jackson.

Bannon was a close adviser during Trump's campaign and in his first months in office, but he was sacked from his White House job in August as the president sought to bring more order to his staff operations.

The committee had earlier rebuffed a White House offer Friday to have a White House attorney sit in on the Bannon session to referee the questions surrounding scope of the interview.

The White House is anxious about Trump's conversations because Trump's inability to shut up means that it is a given that he said something to someone that was self-incriminating.

Bannon's lawyer, Bill Burck of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan (who also represents White House Counsel Don McGahn AND former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus), was reportedly relaying questions in real time to the White House over the phone during his client's interview Tuesday.

Schiff said that it was the first time Republicans on the committee issued a subpoena in response to a witness refusing to answer questions at the instruction of the White House. He is expected to cooperate with the special counsel, the person said.

He also told Wolff that while he did not believe that the campaign colluded with Kremlin operatives, Mueller's investigators are likely to find evidence of money laundering and financial misdeeds on the part of Trump and Kushner.

"As with all congressional inquiries touching upon the White House, Congress must consult with the White House prior to obtaining confidential material", Sanders said.

Steve Bannon, President Donald Trump's former chief strategist whose political fortunes have taken a roller-coaster fall in the wake of his comments in a scathing book on Trump, will be questioned on Tuesday by lawmakers about the Trump team and Russian Federation.

Bannon angered lawmakers on the committee by refusing to answer questions related to his time in the White House and the presidential transition.

Mr Bannon was not present at the meeting, nor during the drafting of the President's misleading statement on this issue - both of which are reportedly of interest to Mr Mueller. "This obviously can't stand".

The White House may fear that, Bannon, having nothing left to lose, will provide injurious testimony to Mueller. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the person wasn't authorized to speak publicly about the matter.

"This was effectively a gag order by the White House", Schiff said, noting the committee planned to call Bannon back for a second round of questioning.

Objections to the sweeping preemptive claim of potential executive privilege were echoed by Representative Trey Gowdy of SC, a Republican who has generally supported the president.

The indictment of Flynn in December endangers Pence's defense, notes the Huffington Post, because it brings "fresh attention" to what Pence knew about possible Russian collusion and when he knew it. Pence's office says: Not much and really late. "Executive privilege now covers things before you become the chief executive - which is just mind-numbing and there is no legal support for it". It was unclear when the interview would take place.

The official would not say what the White House wants to discuss with House Intelligence or what questions about Bannon's time on the transition or in the White House the administration would seek to block.

President Donald Trump's overall health "is excellent" and he did "exceedingly well" on cognitive screening.

"This is going to slow the process", Representative Jim Himes, a Connecticut Democrat who is on the committee, told CNN.

A prominent white collar attorney with offices in New York City and Washington, D.C., Chavkin's website states that he has represented three individuals connected to the Russian Federation probe, along with Ruth Madoff and two prominent investors in last year's Fyre Festival fiasco.
