Apple Will Soon Allow Users to Disable Feature that Throttles iPhone Performance

Apple iPhone text crash

In an interview with ABC News, the Apple CEO said that the next update to iOS 11 will give iPhone users a choice between having their handset performance reduced or not. A developer preview will be released in February, meaning the public release is likely to be a month later.

The update will warn or alert or better still, inform you when your iPhone is automatically reducing its performance in a bid to prevent unexpected shutdowns.

"We deeply apologise for anyone who thinks we have some other kind of motivation".

"We're going to give people the visibility of the health of their battery so it's very, very transparent", he said. The company claims to replace batteries for low prices and issue software in 2018, to help customers monitor their phone's battery health, BBC reported.

From Tim Cook's point of view, Apple customers shouldn't really have been surprised that the company was slowing down iPhones with older batteries, because the company had already told them it was doing so.

Seven lawsuits have been launched in Russian Federation and "hundreds" dozens more are in the pipeline against U.S. tech giant Apple which has already admitted to slowing the performance of older iPhone models, a lawyer for some of the plaintiffs said.

The firm said it would reduce the price of an out-of-warranty battery replacement from $79 to $29 for anyone with an iPhone 6.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook announced a very good news regarding battery issue which iPhone users were facing from sometime. It was added that, "So we want to do that, and in the situation. and we will tell someone we're reducing your performance by some amount in order to not have an unexpected restart". Apple rejiggered its operating system to slow down phones with these older, weaker batteries so that they don't tax them and force a shut down.

Don't like your iPhone slowing down to protect your battery life? He says Apple doesn't recommend it, but the option will be there for users.

Some iPhone users were so annoyed with the initial announcement, that they filed lawsuits against the company. While no timetable was given for when the public update will be released, the fact that Apple is planning to test it so soon suggests that it isn't far off.
