Larry King diagnosed with lung cancer, says he has recovered

Larry King underwent surgery in July

Larry King has revealed a secret battle with lung cancer.

The former CNN host, who is 83, told Us Weekly that a spot on his lung was noticed this summer during a routine check-up. "I go for my checkup and they say, 'Let's do a chest X-ray, and the doctor said to me, 'Something looks amusing, '" he recalls. "You have a small [spot]".

"They showed me the last tomography, which was clean, it was fun to find out the spot it's not there anymore and they've removed 20% of my lung", revealed King.

"They took it out", he said.

"They went in through my ribs with a tiny camera and snipped it out", King says.

The Larry King Now host also took to Twitter on Wednesday to express his gratitude for everyone's support. He says the doctors told him he was fortunate the cancer was spotted, because there are usually no symptoms, until it has progressed into the later stages. The news was understandably met with worry from the fans even as King hurried to assure them in a recent interview.

"On July 17, I had the surgery here at Cedars", King said.

"Thirty years later, I said to the doctor [about the lung cancer diagnosis] 'Is this connected with that?' Absolutely".

Doctors were able to catch his prostate cancer early, too, and were able to treat it entirely with radiation.

King hasn't smoked cigarettes since his heart attack in the late '80s.

"The doctor said that tobacco from 30 years ago is still related to this lung cancer", he said. "That would be on my bucket list". "I saw all the warnings but I never paid attention", he said. "I will probably die on the air", he joked. "I feel good, I get my checkups, I stay healthy and I love working, I do Ora.TV, I do politicking, I still make speeches, I'm active". "They are all painless", and can save your life! "I've never ever felt better than I do now".
