Montreal man accused in Flint airport attack denied bond

Canadian official condemns attack at Bishop airport

Looking around the packed courtroom and repeating "Allahu Akbar" twice, Amor M. Ftouhi, the man accused of stabbing a cop in the neck at Flint Bishop Airport appeared in federal court Wednesday for a detention hearing.

Ftouhi, who was not on the radar of US or Canadian authorities before the attack, was in MI as early as June 18, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

Ftouhi will remain in jail while his case proceeds.

Amor Ftouhi, 49, is unlikely to be granted bond Wednesday because the charge is serious and he lives outside the U.S.

FLINT, Michigan | Montreal, Amor Ftouhi, suspected of having committed the terrorist attack last June 21 at the global airport Bishop Flint, Michigan, will be back in court Wednesday.

Ftouhi was escorted to and from court by U.S. Marshals.

He also said something to the effect of "You have killed people in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and we are all going to die", the complaint said. The 12-inch (30.5 cm), serrated knife Ftouhi used in the attack was bought in the United States. Neville underwent surgery and has left the hospital, local media reported.

"He is a Canadian citizen and so that would raise the issue of flight risk, plus if they establish that it was him, if there was probable cause to believe he did the knife attack, that's a violent crime".

Investigators have not said what brought Ftouhi to Flint.
