Celtics trade No. 1, expect to get man

"We have a core of young players that will be significantly stronger once the draft selection is made", Colangelo said. They felt as though their organization had just thrown away the flawless opportunity to draft a stud point guard in Washington's Markelle Fultz.

Markelle Fultz is expected to become the number one pick in Thursday's NBA Draft after the Philadelphia 76ers swung a deal for the top choice following a private workout.

While his first shoe release might have been an utter failure, Lonzo Ball will rebound and have a successful career with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Celtics would take whichever one is more favorable. However, if one of those picks turns out to be the first pick, the Celtics will receive the other one.

For the Sixers, a team who has been acquiring draft picks and "trusting the process" for years now, this trade is precisely the type of move the team had been preparing to make. "In a sense, we're using house money".

There are two rounds in the draft, with 30 picks in each round. Fox's speed and playmaking abilities make him a flawless fit for the Kings as they look to replace the one who got away - Isaiah Thomas.

Where Boston fans can find comfort is in the depth of this draft class. He wrote "Be Ready ..." "He's super explosive. He's super talented".

"Markelle is the type of kid, like most kids, in a positive situation he's gonna play even better", Williams continued. "Going there knowing the future is bright and the talent there is really good, I'm pretty excited".

The 47-year-old Griffin had been Cleveland's GM since May 2014.

With the news that 2017's college standout Fultz will be plying his trade in Philly next season, the 76ers find themselves with a "Big-3" of their own as Fultz, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid look to create a dynasty. "That's our goal. That's where we want to be".

He's grateful that the Sixers think enough of him to make an aggressive move to ensure they wind up with him.

Finally, if you want to know more about Fultz the person, USA Today's Nicole Auerbach accomplished just that back in January, writing about how Fultz's love of bikes and trick shots, and how Fultz's single mother of two instilled a work ethic and values in her children in addition to working a government job to save up money to send her son to a prestigious private school and basketball powerhouse in Maryland, where he first caught the attention of Washington coaches in a JV game.

Colangelo chose not to disclose a name, but Fultz is the consensus No. 1 pick of the draft. Pompey also noted that the Sixers might be done just yet making draft trades. And Fultz's camp was not going to meet with the Sixers unless a deal was imminent, according to reports.
