Boris Johnson calling for end to blockade of Qatar

Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi tells reporters in a weekly news conference: "These countries should try to settle their differences at the negotiating table in a positive and comprehensive process". But since June 5, the UAE has joined Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt in cutting off sea traffic to Qatar as part of the nations cutting diplomatic ties.

While the spat between Qatar and other Arab states may end up benefiting the U.S. and Israel, experts say that Qatar finds itself at a crossroads in its relationships with the region's leading Sunni and Shia powers.

The Qatari government has dismissed the allegations as "baseless" and said that it has been leading the region in attacking what it called the roots of "terrorism", including giving young people hope through jobs, educating hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees and funding community programmes to challenge the agendas of armed groups.

A brief statement issued by the PM House prior to his departure said the visit was taking place "in [the] context of emergent situation in the GCC [Gulf Cooperation Council] countries".

These restrictions, as well as restrictions on travel to and from Qatar, are pushing the embattled country into isolation and threatening the economy and livelihood of Qatar's residents and citizens. Most of these Indians work at construction sites, trading firms and with other services. The World Bank estimates that expat workers in Qatar sent home $11.4 billion (10.1 billion euros) in 2015. Pakistan and Bangladesh also are among the top 10 countries.

Natural gas exports may help Qatar protect it in the ongoing dispute it has with other Arab nations. But Qatar wields a potential economic weapon if the crisis escalates and countries around the world that depend on its supply may find themselves needing to side with the tiny nation that is home to a major USA military installation. Turkey also has made a decision to send troops to a base it maintains in Qatar in a sign of support. Qatar's biggest Asian clients are Japan, India and South Korea, according to energy research firm Wood Mackenzie.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) have arrived in Riyadh on Monday to ease the tensions between Arab countries and Qatar.

In a separate interview with the Wall Street Journal, Al Baker said he would not delay any plane orders or put expansion plans in other countries, such as India, on hold. Rumors have circulated in Doha that some exchanges have been hit by a shortage of dollars, potentially affecting remittances by Qatar's migrant workforce, estimated at more than two million people. You provoked strong countries like Turkey and Iran.

He added that the countries which had imposed sanctions would also lose money because of the damage to business in the region.

On Monday, Kuwait's emir, who has led mediation efforts to resolve the Gulf's worst diplomatic row in years, cautioned that the dispute could lead to "undesirable consequences", in comments carried by state news agency KUNA.
