Police name two London attackers

Twelve people were arrested after the attack but have all now been released without charge, the Met Police said on its Twitter account Monday.

The Islamic State militant group, which is losing territory in Syria and Iraq to an offensive backed by a USA -led coalition, claimed responsibility for the London Bridge attack, though it is unclear whether the attackers had links to the group.

On Saturday night, three suspects killed seven people and injured 48 more in separate attacks in London before being gunned down by police.

"However, there was no intelligence to suggest that this attack was being planned and the investigation had been prioritized accordingly", police said in a statement.

Zaghba was stopped at Bologna's airport trying to fly to Turkey in March previous year over concerns he was intending to travel on to Syria, according to reports. He was allegedly on his way to Syria and was carrying only a backpack.

Zaghba was said to have been placed on a watch list by Italian authorities and flagged to their Moroccan and British counterparts, but a lack of evidence about his intentions meant his phone and passport were returned, Italian media reported.

The youngest of Saturday's attackers is said to have told Italian authorities "I'm going to be a terrorist", while officers reportedly found Islamic State-related material on his mobile phone when they intercepted him. The search in Ilford, just north of Barking, is seeking to determine whether the group had accomplices.

Police said they had arrested 12 people in the area, seven women and five men, and released two after inquiries.

To huge applause, Mr Khan told those gathered for the service in Potters Fields Park, near London's City Hall: "As a proud and patriotic British Muslim I say this you do not commit these disgusting acts in my name".

The so-called Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

May hit back by criticizing Corbyn, a pacifist who has opposed some security legislation in parliament and expressed reservations in the past about police responding to armed attackers with "shoot-to-kill" tactics.

Butt was previously known to police and domestic spy agency, MI5 and was a British citizen who had been born in Pakistan, the police said. The second man, Rachid Redouane, had not aroused any suspicions. In a statement, her family said she had worked in a shelter for the homeless.

She saw police helicopters, boats and cars speed pass her toward the London Bridge and Borough Market.

Prime Minister Theresa May has come under fire from her chief political opponent and some in the media for cuts she made to the police force during her time as home secretary.

The area around Borough Market is not expected to reopen Tuesday.

London Bridge is one of the main arteries leading into the heart of the City business district.

Transport for London, which oversees the capital's transport network, has advised commuters to make alternative journeys as the station will be busy. London Mayor Sadiq Khan led a minute's silence.

The country's official terror threat level remains at "severe", one notch down from the highest.

The rampage came less than two weeks after a suicide bomber killed 22 children and adults at a pop concert in Manchester.

The authorities are still working to identity the third attacker.
