More than one dead in terror attack at London Bridge

Metropolitan Police indicated that the incident was ongoing and urged people to take shelter if necessary. "I don't know what to do".

Emergency services were seen treating people lying injured at the junction of Thrale Street and Southwark Street, near Borough Market.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said U.S. president Donald Trump had been briefed on the incident by his national security team.

Medics treated the injured near the market as shocked people cried and shouted around them. The police asked people to run to a place of safety and hide as the attackers may still be armed and in the area.

One woman told Reuters she saw what appeared to be three people with knife wounds and possibly their throats cut at London Bridge at the Thames river.

Soon after, armed officers responded to reports of a stabbing at Borough Market, just one-third of a mile away from the London Bridge.

After ramming the auto into a barrier outside the Houses of Parliament, the driver got out and stabbed a police officer to death.

On Saturday evening police responded to the scene at London Bridge after a vehicle plowed into pedestrians.

British Prime Minister Theresa May called the events a "potential act of terrorism"."Following updates from police and security officials, I can confirm that the awful incident in London is being treated as a potential act of terrorism", May said in a statement.

Police were also called to another incident in the Vauxhall area, over a mile away, however whatever happened there is deemed to be unrelated.

She will chair a meeting of the Government's Cobra emergency committee on Sunday, No 10 said.

A van driven by a man travelling at about "50 miles an hour" rammed into people, BBC reporter Holly Jones, who was present there at the time of the incident, said.

As thousands of people flooded from the area of the attacks - many unable to get home with nearby subway stations shut - locals were quick to offer assistance.

England has been under heightened alert since a bomb was detonated at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester nearly two weeks ago, killing 22 and wounding more than 100 as they left the venue. "These apparent terrorist attacks are cowardly and senseless acts that go against everything we believe in and a sad and sobering reminder of the threats we face today", said Cuomo.

People evacuate near the London Bridge in London, Britain, on June 3, 2017.

Just minutes before Saturday's terror attack in London, pubs were crammed with revellers enjoying a balmy summer night out in a trendy part of the city, many of them watching the Champions League final on big screens.

A Christchurch man has suffered multiple stab wounds in the London terror attacks. Grande, an American singer, is scheduled to perform in Manchester again tonight, in tribute of the many victims.
