Armed officers respond to 3 incidents in London

Earlier right after the attacks on and around London Bridge, he pushed for passage of his travel ban tweeting: "We need to be smart, vigilant and tough. We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!" The administration argues that the USA will be safer if the policy is put in place.

Witness Mark Roberts said the van was traveling south across the River Thames at a high rate of speed and was swerving as it struck several people.

The BBC is reporting that more than one person is dead in the London Bridge incident.

Ben said: "We saw people running away and then I saw a man in red with a large blade, at a guess 10 inches long, stabbing a man, about three times".

British Transport Police said there were reports of "multiple" casualties following the major incident on the bridge. Officers later said this was a stabbing and not connected to the operation at London Bridge and Borough Market.

The assailant, Khalid Masood, 52, of West Midlands, reportedly had a criminal record and may have had connections to violent extremism, British Prime Minister Theresa May said.

British prime minister Theresa May has confirmed the bad incidents in London are being treated as a potential act of terrorism.

May says it is a "fast-moving investigation" and her thoughts are with those caught up in the "dreadful events".

Another incident in Vauxhall in South London is also being simultaneously investigated - it is not suspected to be in connection to the other incidents.

Jeremy Corbyn, the head of the Labour Party, said on Twitter: "Brutal and shocking incidents reported in London".

"My thoughts are with everyone affected", London's mayor said while also thanking emergency service members.

May is set to chair an emergency response committee on Sunday.

Britain's official terror threat had recently been lowered from "critical" after a bombing killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. Police officers yelled at people to run from the area. Police said they fired shots. They did not say if officers fired the shots. Jones said that police had taken a man into custody who happened not to be wearing a shirt.

Several pedestrians were run over by a van in London on Saturday, according to multiple eyewitness reports.

A police spokesman declined to comment to Reuters about the report.

Another witness, Will Heaven, said he saw people who appeared to have been hit, and one being put into an ambulance.

'I mean, of course there is panic, of course there is fear, of course there is chaos, but that being said I think amongst all of that the way in which the London police are handling this situation is a real testament. She said she saw at least four or five people on the ground.

The current London Bridge opened in 1973 and is made of concrete and steel. "And then people started screaming coming back up", the 31-year-old said.

London police are unsure if all the militants involved in a deadly attack on the London Bridge area late on Saturday have been accounted for, Sky News reported on Sunday. The patrons sheltered in the basement, the witness said. We'll update with further information as it becomes available.

He told the station: "I didn't see the van mount the kerb but I saw everything else". Being evacuated with people running out.
