Kathy Griffin fired from CNN's New Year's Eve program

"Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself", President Donald Trump tweeted on May 31. That doesn't sound like something 11-year-old me would want getting out there.

Griffin later apologized for the photo, which was taken by Tyler Shields.

Grad student Algarian Benson says "its freedom of speech I mean she's a comedian so we know she doesn't have a insane plot to kill the president, I mean..." I moved the line, then I crossed it. "I understand how it offends people, it wasn't amusing, I get it". In a statement, the FLOTUS called the controversial image "very disturbing" and even questioned the comedian's mental state. I understand how it affects people. It was not amusing.

The shocking photo of Kathy Griffin holding a stoney replica of Donald Trump's head covered in blood, caused controversy on both sides of the political spectrum after it was posted on Tuesday. "I ask your forgiveness". I am sorry. I went too far. 'I made a mistake and I was wrong'.

Donald Trump Jr. said Tuesday the picture was "disgusting but not surprising".

Trump himself took to Twitter to air his anger at the photo.

The gruesome image brought a storm of online criticism, including from Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Mr Trump's 2016 election rival Hillary. "Sick!" he wrote via Twitter. Management of the Laguna Pueblo tribe-operated establishment made a decision to cancel a one-night appearance by Griffin scheduled for July 22, a spokesman said.

As it became clear not everyone found it amusing, she tweeted again: "OBVIOUSLY, I do not condone ANY violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever!"

"In a odd way Griffin's shameful stunt might have given Americans their greatest moment of unity since Trump's unexpected election", wrote USA Today.

The tweet has been removed from the site.

"We were shocked and disappointed to learn about the image Ms. Griffin shared today". "It was deeply inappropriate and runs contrary to the core values our company stands for".

Griffin's apology did little to appease critics, and on Wednesday morning (31May17), she lost an endorsement deal with bosses behind the Squatty Potty toilet accessory as it emerged Secret Service officials were looking into the matter.

Meanwhile, Shields sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly to explain how he and Griffin came up with the idea of posing with Trump's fake bloody head. This means she won't be joining anchor Anderson Cooper on their yearly New Year's Eve Special in 2018, which she's been part of since 2007.

CNN called the picture "disgusting and offensive" in a statement, adding that it was "evaluating our New Year's coverage".
