Trump preparing certified letter attesting to no Russia ties

The FBI as well as the US Senate and House intelligence committees have been investigating Russia's alleged meddling in the 2016 US presidential election and any possible ties between Trump's associates and Moscow. He creates his own reality for himself and his followers.

"I asked Clapper. 'I said, 'Is there any business dealings with the Trump organization that gave you concern?' And he said, 'No, ' with a caveat, 'I don't know what the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking at so I don't want to run afoul with them'".

This is not entirely accurate.

"The vice president was unknowingly making false statements to the public and we believed that General Flynn was compromised with respect to the Russians", said Yates before the panel.

Graham told CNN on Tuesday he wanted to explore possible ties between Trump's businesses and Russian Federation.

The report concluded that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered up a campaign "to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary [Hillary] Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency", and that he and his government "developed a clear preference for" Trump.

Clapper incorrectly claimed that no Republican data was released during the campaign, WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange said on Twitter, offering documents published in August 2016 as proof.

"And I can't reveal that in an open setting", Yates said.

This one is way off the mark.

While the exchange was humorous, Clapper made an important distinction that the White House and GOP try to blur.

Tweet #3, 6:46 p.m.

Graham's comments, stronger than a day earlier, come roughly 48 hours after news broke that Trump had fired FBI Director James Comey.

USA intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian Federation interfered in the election in an attempt to help Trump win.

As for the idea of these investigations as a "taxpayer-funded charade", consider this: A foreign power attempted to influence the outcome of a presidential election in the United States and, according to many in the national security world, will try to do so again (and again). "When things calm down, they will be thanking me!"

Trump tweet #4, 6:50 p.m. Clapper repeated his assertion today.

Reasonable people can disagree about what the "biggest" story was coming out of the Yates/Clapper hearing.

"I don't know of any business associations that give me pause for concern", he said. "Yeah, I want to know about everything Russian Federation that's appropriate".

"This is a guy who was very outspoken in his criticism of President Obama's policies", Spicer said of Flynn during the White House press briefing on Monday, going on to question why the Obama administration allowed Flynn to travel to Russian Federation and did not revoke his security clearance.

Those are the facts.

"Watch them start to choke like dogs", Trump said, as quoted by Time.

In another tweet, the president seemed to denounce the hearings.
